The Wicked & Divine continues to impress. Generally when stories feature 5 or more characters, the development of character or two can get lost in the shuffle or become irrelevant to the storyline. Not this book. Kieran Gillen does an amazing job of keeping every character (even support characters) relevant and playing an essential role in keeping the mystery and pacing of the story at a level that demands your attention. Can't wait for vol. 8!
In this penultimate volume, some questions are seemingly answered and new questions arise. I don't anticipate that I'll fully understand what is going on until I reach the end, but it is an incredibly enjoyable reading experience.
LOVE this series- it seems so obvious and derivative at first and then it swings WAY off in another direction. And the art is holding up really well! No cheaping out on the quality and inventiveness.
Not sure where this is going anymore. I love this series, but it feels like it may be getting stretched out. It’s still a well done series though. So I have hope.

I believe that this is the 2nd to last volume and that the creators will wrap things up with volume 8 in 2019. Those who have read previous volumes will know that many major characters have been killed, though not all of them have stayed dead (in every way).This volume gives us more history about the Pantheon and its origins. We learn about the relationship between Ananke and her sister. On a few different occasions, we get panels that show previous Pantheons since 6000 BC. The choice of locations and the times they are there is neat (Syria 1095, France 820, Iraq 637, Germania 454, Judea 4 BC) - many, and all that I just listed, have great historical significance.The knock on this series, as ever, is that it is sometimes told out of order or from the limited perspective of the characters. The reader has a base global idea what is going on, but it is hard to pin down the exact plot or why someone did something.
I can't wait till the next one. I am hookedVol. 8 is worth the wait but hopefully here asap
